Custom-Made Sports Mouthguards

Mouthguards are an important piece of equipment for anyone who plays contact sports. At Dental Prosthetics by Cindy & Richard, we can custom make a mouthguard to fit your teeth. This will provide you with the best possible protection for your teeth and gums during activities where there is a risk of injury.

We work with you to ensure that your mouthguard is comfortable and fits well so that you can focus on your game without worrying about your teeth. We also offer a range of colours and designs to choose from so that you can personalise your mouthguard to match your team colours or simply to reflect your personality.

The Best Possible Protection

High-contact sports such as rugby, hockey and martial arts can put your teeth at risk of injury. A custom mouthguard can help to protect your teeth from being chipped, cracked or knocked out. Mouthguards can also help to protect your jaw from being fractured or dislocated. In some cases, a mouthguard can even help to prevent concussions.

Mouthguards bought from a sporting goods store or pharmacy are often ill-fitting and uncomfortable. You may find it difficult to breathe or speak while wearing one of these mouthguards, which can hinder your ability to focus on your game.

A custom mouthguard from Dental Prosthetics by Cindy & Richard is made to fit your mouth so that it’s comfortable to wear and will not interfere with your breathing or speech. Our mouthguards are made from a soft, pliable material that will mould to the shape of your teeth. We take great care in fabricating your mouthguard so that it affords you the best possible protection for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do mouthguards protect my teeth?

Mouthguards work by absorbing the impact of a blow to the face, which helps to protect your teeth from being chipped, fractured, or knocked out.

  • Do I need a mouthguard?

Put simply, if you play contact sports or wear braces, the answer is yes. We can help you determine what kind of mouthguard you need depending on your situation. As an example, if you wear braces or have a history of clenching or grinding your teeth, you may be at a higher risk for dental injuries and would benefit from wearing a mouthguard.

  • How do I care for my mouthguard?

You should rinse your mouthguard with cold water before and after each use. You should also brush it with a toothbrush and toothpaste to remove bacteria or food particles. Be sure to store your mouthguard in a cool, dry place when you’re not using it.

  • How often do I need to replace my mouthguard?

You should replace your mouthguard every one to two years or as directed by your dental prosthetist.

How Mouthguards Work

During your appointment, we will take impressions of your teeth so that we can create a model of your mouth. We will then use this model to make a custom-fitted mouthguard specific to your teeth. The entire process is straightforward and usually only involves one or two visits to our clinic. Your new mouthguard will be fabricated and ready to wear within a short period.
